Pontoon
The game of
Blackjack, which
is very famous
especially in
American casinos,
is known as
Pontoon in the
British which
is internationally
known as Twenty-one.
The name ‘Pontoon’
and the game
itself originate
from France
and in French,
it is known
as Vingt-et-un
(21). Shoot
Pontoon is an

to the original

The
Basic Game:
The
minimum number
of players required
to play this
game is just
two and there

limit. However,

8 people using

card deck of
52 cards. Players

money or coins
to supplement
the money and
place their
bets.
Each card has
some value assigned
to it. Ace can
be assigned
1 or even 11
depending on
the player’s
choice. The
kings, queens,
jacks, and tens
are usually
of 10 value
and other cards
have worth as
per their pip
value. The aim
of the game
is that each
player has to
reach the mark
of 21 points
without exceeding
the 21-mark.
One player plays
the role of
the banker.
The game provides
the banker with
an added advantage,
and so to decide
who will become
the banker,
a deal is made
and the player
with the highest
card is chosen
as the banker.
In every deal,
all the players
bet that they
have better
cards than the
banker.
- The two
cards of
a player
are judged
as the best
in a game
of Pontoon
when they
make a score
of 21. The
score of
21 is possible
with two
cards only
if there
is a combination
of an ace
and a ten
or a picture
card.
- The other
version
of Pontoon
is a Five
Card Trick,
in which
the total
of five
cards must
tally 21
or less.
- The player
who has
a score
of 21 with
three or
four cards
is considered
as the best
only in
a Pontoon
or the Five
Card Trick
game.
- Hands
which have
20 points
or less
than that
by using
less than
five cards
are ranked
according
to their
score value.
The nearer
is the score
to 21, the
better.
- If the
tally crosses
the score
of 21, the
cards are
a waste
or are burst.
- If the
points of
a player
and a banker
tally, then
the banker
is considered
the winner.
The
Initial Stakes:
The deal is
done by the
banker. The
banker gives
each player
one card starting
from his left,
completing the
circle, and
ending with
himself. Among
all players,
it is only the
banker who has
the permission
to see his cards.
Now,
each player
has to bet within
the minimum
and the maximum
limits, which
are decided
beforehand.
Placing a minimum
bet is compulsory.
The banker
now deals the
second card
to all players
just like before
and now, the
players can
see their cards.
If the banker
has got a Pontoon,
he becomes the
winner and the
game is over
and each player
has to give
him double the
money they had
placed in their
bet.
