There are two basic types of wagers when playing roulette. The inside bet and the outside bet. The inside bet is when the player wagers on the numbers on the inside of the board. There are different types of inside bets that can be made when playing roulette. When placing an inside bet, there may be a table minimum that the player will have to follow.

The first type of inside bet is the straight up bet. This is when you wager on one single number. Winning an inside bet pays thirty five to one, so a wager of one dollar will pay off thirty five dollars. The reason the pay out is so high is that the odds of your one number being the winning number are thirty five out of thirty six spins of the wheel.

The next type of inside bet is the split bet. This is when you place your chip between two numbers and it pays seventeen to one. There is also the street or line bet when you wager on a line of numbers. Winning this wager will award the player eleven to one on their bet. A quad bet is made by placing a chip in the corner where four numbers are touching and pays eight to one.

There is also the basket bet which includes the zero; the double zero is included but only on American roulette tables and the numbers one, two and three. This pays out the winner six to one.

The final inside bet is the double street bet where you are wagering on two lines of numbers, this wager pays five to one on the bet.
